Mother/Baby RN Job Details
- Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio travel nursing)
- Healthcare Setting: Inpatient Postpartum Unit (Family-Centered Care)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (09/22/2025 – 12/22/2025)
- Shift: Day Shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,720 - $1,770 per week
- Patient Population: Neonates, Adults (Mother/Baby dyads)
- Unit Census: 40-bed unit, average daily census of 60
- Weekend Coverage: Required (every other weekend)
- Floating: May float to similar acuity units within the healthcare organization
- Minimum 2 years of recent postpartum (Mother/Baby) RN experience
- Active Registered Nurse license (compact RN license or Ohio RN license required)
- BLS certification (AHA)
- IV certification and strong IV start skills
- Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience
- EPIC charting experience
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references (at least one from a nurse manager, director, or formal leadership role)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon contract signing
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Provide comprehensive postpartum care to mothers and newborns, including assessment, education, and discharge planning
- Administer medications and IV therapies (antibiotics, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives)
- Offer breastfeeding support and newborn care education to parents
- Monitor for postpartum complications (hemorrhage, wound infection, preeclampsia)
- Care for healthy newborns and infants with special needs (NAS, low birth weight)
- Perform newborn assessments, metabolic screening, phototherapy, and thermoregulation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV team, physical therapy, social services, pharmacy)
- Float to other nursing units with similar acuity as needed
