Controls Estimating Engineer

- Meeting with customers to discover project requirements
- Reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work.
- Reviewing existing drawings and creating controls equipment list to meet project requirements.
- Create preliminary electrical device layout drawing using AutoCAD.
- Developing estimates for engineering hours, hardware and subcontracted services
- Conducting concept review meetings as required
- Preparing sales proposals and bid documentation
- Reviewing many factors and use judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate actions
- Reporting proposal status to management
- Managing as-sold documentation and delivery to the project team
- Mentoring less experienced engineers on industry and technical knowledge
- Periodically assist Controls Engineering team with project efforts.
- BSI, BSEE, BSCS, BSME degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- 3 or more years of experience in the warehouse distribution or manufacturing industry
- Extensive knowledge of automated controls systems and warehouse management software interface
- 3 or more years of experience with electrical component design
- Understanding of electrical field wiring, PLCs, HMIs, WCS and WES operations
- Excellent client follow through skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in fast paced and high-volume environment
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Studio 5000
- Ability to travel periodically and perform audit of existing control systems.
