Summary
Assist in wall operations, wall maintenance and maintain a safe and fun climbing environment. Assist with the administrative tasks and special events at the Climbing Wall.

Essential Functions
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive rapport with patrons and coworkers.
- Open Climbing Wall, monitor activities, administer belay and orientation tests, and close the Climbing Wall.
- Maintain a safe and positive Climbing Wall operation and identify and correct any unsafe actions concerning Climbing Wall patrons.
- Inspect Climbing Wall equipment as assigned, accurately report equipment condition on the inspection sheets, and report any equipment issues to Climbing Wall administration.
- Participate in periodic route-setting sessions with other Climbing Wall staff members.
- Operate various computer applications.
- Enforce rules and regulations of the Climbing Wall.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in Recreation and Wellness Student Employee Manual.
- Promote and support the mission of the Department of Recreation and Wellness.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training.
- Participate in Student Development and Leadership Program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess and maintain current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.
- Able to teach belay and wall orientation classes (knot tying, correct belay technique, etc.).
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, professional mannerisms, and a friendly demeanor.
- Work independently and in a team.
