Systems Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support our organization’s IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of systems and networks while partnering closely with internal teams to support business operations and future growth.
The ideal candidate approaches their work with intention and accountability—building systems that enable teams to move quickly, designing solutions that are reliable and secure, and making thoughtful technology decisions that align with long-term business goals. Success in this role means delivering well-designed systems that can be deployed efficiently, operated with confidence, and scaled with purpose.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement scalable, well-architected systems that align with business needs and long-term strategy.
- Maintain and operate on-premise and/or cloud-based infrastructure with a focus on reliability, availability, and security.
- Automate system processes and deployments where possible to improve efficiency and speed to delivery.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security; proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, network, and system-level problems.
- Support server environments (physical and virtual), including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
- Manage and maintain operating systems (Windows, Linux, or both) and core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Assist with cloud infrastructure management (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP), including virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security best practices, patching, and access controls.
- Create and maintain system documentation, diagrams, procedures, and standards.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity efforts.
- Provide tier 2–3 support and mentorship to junior IT staff as needed.
- Support system-related projects, upgrades, and technology rollouts with a focus on speed, stability, and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–6 years of experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or a similar IT role.
- Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Working knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching).
- Experience with backup, recovery, and monitoring tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues in a structured and efficient manner.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Must be able to qualify for and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
