Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team on the 1st shift (6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) in Sugarcreek, OH. The role offers a competitive hourly rate and involves local travel within a 10-mile radius to service mining sites using a company-provided mechanic truck and tools.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including dozers, front-end loaders, and excavators.
- Work primarily on CAT equipment, with occasional Komatsu units.
- Utilize CAT ET (Electronic Technician) software for diagnostics.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, and hoses.
- Rebuild hydraulic cylinders and perform component overhauls.
- Repair and maintain diesel engines, motors, and powertrain systems.
- Service and repair suspension systems, brakes, and undercarriage components.
- Conduct bucket and attachment repairs, including welding and fitting.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems and wiring issues.
- Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, and potential failures.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic, preferably in mining, construction, or aggregates.
- Strong knowledge of CAT equipment; experience with Komatsu equipment is a plus.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software, especially CAT ET.
- Advanced understanding of hydraulics and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Expertise in diesel engines and powertrains.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems.
- Valid driver’s license required for service truck use.
- Ability to perform both shop and field service repairs independently.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Capability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.

Work Environment
Work in a large manufacturing facility that has been family-owned since 1885. The environment is heavy industrial, dealing with ceramics, and can be dusty with varying temperatures throughout the year. There are 8 plants in Sugarcreek and 7 mining sites within a 10-mile radius, where conditions can be dirty and dusty.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $87360.00/yr.
