Job Summary

Learning Matters, Inc. is a nonprofit organization formed in July 2006 to provide interventional tutoring, educational assessment, and advocacy services. Join us and make a difference in the lives of students and help us advance our mission to ensure educational equity for students with Dyslexia and other learning disabilities.

The Development Manager will work in collaboration with the administrative and advancement team in all aspects of non-profit fund development. This is a part-time, in-office, 20-30 hour position working Monday - Thursday, with very occasional nights and weekends depending on special events.

Job responsibilities include:

Fundraising, Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:

  • Process gifts, including gift entry, record updates, and acknowledgments in the CRM platform (experience with Little Green Light, Razor's Edge, or similar preferred).
  • Assist with donor communication, correspondence, and stewardship activities.
  • Lead the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and appeals, leveraging marketing channels to drive donor acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Manage fundraising initiatives, including crowdfunding campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising, and matching gift programs.
  • Implement donor recognition programs and communications to express gratitude and strengthen donor relationships.

Grant Writing and Management:

  • Collaborate with the development team to research funding opportunities, develop grant proposals, and manage grant reporting requirements.
  • Ensure alignment between grant-funded programs and marketing efforts to maximize impact and meet funder expectations.

Special Events and Community Engagement:

  • Help plan and execute signature events, including the Music City Run for Dyslexia, and community engagement initiatives to raise awareness and generate support for the organization's mission.
  • Help coordinate pre and post-event activities, including logistics, vendor management, volunteer coordination, and participant engagement.
  • Help coordinate with volunteers, sponsors, and community partners to ensure successful event outcomes and meaningful participation.
  • Assist with communications plan and promotion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, public relations, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in sales, fundraising, events or marketing preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and external partners.
  • Strong desire to improve and continuously learn
  • Proficient in CRM and Google applications including Docs, Sheets, Drive.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva and related technologies preferred
  • Joy in serving clients and community; servant leader; humble
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communications
  • High level of organization and ability to prioritize tasks
