Locum - Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for a high-acuity Locum Tenens assignment in Springfield, Ohio . Reporting directly to the Cardiovascular Surgeon, the NP will manage adult and geriatric patients within a comprehensive Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery program. This role involves a blend of surgical coordination, inpatient rounding, and specialized critical care management.

Schedule & Coverage:

• Duration: April – July (Specific dates TBD).
• Rotation: 10–11 days per month.
• Shift Pattern: Friday afternoon through the following full week and weekend (concluding Sunday evening or Monday AM).
• On-Call: Includes both Operating Room (OR) and ICU/CVICU call responsibilities.

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Patient Management: Manage a daily census of 5–20 patients across adult and geriatric demographics.
• Inpatient Care: Lead daily rounding, coordination of care, and interpretation/ordering of diagnostic tests.
• Clinical Authority: Full prescriptive authority required to manage patient treatment plans.
• Technical Procedures: * Vein Harvesting: Proficiency required.
• Surgical Support: Retrieval of vascular tissues and surgical first-assisting are available but not strictly required.
• Collaboration: Act as a critical liaison between the Cardiovascular Surgeon and the multidisciplinary ICU/CVICU teams.

Submission & Experience Requirements:

• Board Certification: Active ANCC or AANP certification is required .
• Experience: * Strong preference for Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery experience.
• Candidates with significant Critical Care experience will be considered.
• Strict Requirement: No new graduates; minimum of 1–2 years of specialty experience preferred.
• Licensure: Active Ohio (OH) State License is preferred (candidates willing to obtain a quick license may be considered).
• Certifications: Active AHA ACLS and COVID-19 vaccination are required .
• EMR: Proficiency in Epic is required.
• Compliance: A Self-Query NPDB report (dated within the last 30 days) is mandatory at the time of presentation.
