Scope of Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Manager works with Advanced Practice Provider and Division leadership and will function in liaison, oversight, and mentoring roles for other advanced practice providers. The APP Manager reports directly to the APP Associate Director. The APP Manager will manage the day-to-day coordination of the APP Fellowship Program. The Advanced Practice Provider Manager is responsible for providing personalized education by designing, developing, implementing and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support the orientation, ongoing educational and professional development needs of the Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program. The APP Manager provides oversight and management of APP student placement and Administrative and reporting responsibilities as per department expectations. Interacts with the division workforce at large on issues related to advanced practice providers. The APP Manager serves as the liaison between APP fellows and APRN/PAs and also upper-level advanced practice leaders.

The APP Manager is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Collaborates with a physician (s) and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care. The focus is on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Performs medical services that have been specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which they hold licensure.

Position Summary

The APP Manager assists the Associate Director with the planning, organization, direction and evaluation of the health care services provided by APP Fellows. Under the guidance of the Associate Director, the APP Manager is responsible for managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance and competency level of APP Fellows. The APP Manager partners with system APP leadership to implement strategic initiatives and standardize best practices across fellowship sites. Contributes to the development of APP workforce strategy, and onboarding pathways.

The APP Fellowship Manager incorporates current evidence based knowledge, adult learning principles, clinical, educational, and professional standards of advanced practice into daily work.

The APP Manager provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Healthcare services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education, and counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate

This APP Manager serves as a key leader for APRNs and PA-Cs across The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, supporting the APP Associate Director for Professional Practice in enhancing clinical excellence. Responsibilities include managing APP Fellows, including responsibility for the annual performance evaluations, and guiding initiatives in pathway to practice. The position plays a central role in collaborative work in the academic partnership with the OSU College of Nursing, including APP student clinical placement and shadowing opportunities. This position contributes to the review and refinement of policies, procedures, and standards of care across the medical center. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the evolving needs of the APP community.

Minimum Qualifications

Master of Science Degree Nursing or Master's in Physician Assistant Science. APRN License with Certification as an NP or PA-C. Must have at least four (4) years of experience, including a minimum of two (2) years as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) and two (2) years in a lead APP, formal APP administrative leadership, or APP Educator role.

Preferred minimum years of relevant experience: 6-10. Doctorate Preferred.
