Job Summary Purpose

The Outreach Associate supports the mission of the Veterans Service Commission of Hamilton County by conducting outreach and engagement activities to ensure eligible veterans, dependents, and survivors are aware of and able to access available benefits, services, and resources. This position builds relationships with community partners, veteran service organizations, and local agencies, and serves as a liaison between the Commission and the veteran community throughout Hamilton County.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

• Must be a veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States who received an honorable discharge or if a qualified veteran is not available, the spouse, surviving spouse, child, or parent of a veteran, per Ohio Revised Code 5901.07.
• High School graduate or higher.
• Must pass and maintain required background investigation.
• Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout Hamilton County.
• One (1) or more years of experience in outreach, community engagement, social services, public service, or a related field.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Flair for creating engaging displays and public education materials.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with the public through various communication channels.
• Cultural competency, particularly with military and veteran populations.
• Must be a team player, possessing the capability to work with personnel at all levels of the reporting structure.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Competency with creating, editing, and maintaining regular social media posts across various platforms (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram).
• Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software programs.
• Ability to work a non-standard/ flexible schedule, which may include weekends and evenings.

Essential Functions of the Position

• Assist with the planning and execution of multiple outreach activities throughout the County with community organizations, schools, nonprofits, and partner agencies to promote VSC programs.
• Document outreach activities and track outcomes.
• Provide general administrative support to the VSC team as needed.
• Collect and share stories, photos, and testimonials to highlight VSC impact.
• Assist with creating and distributing outreach materials (flyers, emails, social media content, presentations).
• Support efforts to increase participation from diverse and underrepresented communities.

Other Duties & responsibilities

• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to this position at the discretion of the Outreach Manager or Executive Director.
• Activities defined in the above position description do not prelude or exempt the employee from performing other related or non-related duties as may be required to maintain an effectively functioning office.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Job functions are mostly performed in an office and/ or community setting.
• Position does require lifting and pulling with table and resource materials (table and cart have wheels, but both need to be lifted into vehicle for set up).
