Summary:
This position performs housekeeping/custodial work, cleaning and performing general maintenance for Cleveland County departments. Additionally, this position will function as the supervisor of the housekeeping team to ensure compliance and quality of work.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:
Responsible for ensuring daily cleaning duties are complete for all county buildings, this includes working along side the housekeeping team. Monitors the quality of work of the housekeeping team to ensure standards are met.
Responding to emergent situations as they arise and working collaboratively with the Maintenance Director to resolve them.
Proving guidance to the housekeeping team regarding proper cleaning procedures, techniques, and areas of improvement.
Responsible for unlocking and locking county buildings daily in order to complete housekeeping duties.
Addressing any noticed issues to the exterior grounds daily to ensure the County buildings are presentable
Ensuring the County Mail is picked up daily at the post office
Adjust assignments or cleaning schedule of team members to ensure adequate coverage as absences or emergencies may require.
Prepares requisitions and obtains cleaning supplies and materials; distributes supplies as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisors and Managers play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency, team productivity, and organizational success. Divisional supervision is exercised over the housekeeping staff.
Key areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to: Team Management, Performance Monitoring & Feedback, Training & Development, Onboarding, Recommendations about Disciplinary Actions, Compliance & Policy Adherence, Problem Solving & Communication, and Workforce Planning & Delegation.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience working in custodial work, housekeeping work, or building cleaning work, AND one (1) year of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in stripping, buffing, waxing, finishing floors and operating a professional flooring machine preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Ability to identify cleaning needs and address with appropriate methods and supplies.
Ability to perform manual labor requiring continuous physical effort.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and in writing.
Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies.
Ability to deal courteously with staff.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with director, team members and other employees.
Ability to motivate staff and ensure positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among staff.

Must be able to perform the basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, hearing, talking and repetitive motions.
Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must possess visual acuity to recognize areas requiring cleaning and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work performed.
License and Certifications:
Valid drivers license and insurable driving record
Work Location:
This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.
