Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is searching for a Clinical Track faculty member who will contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and service missions. This is a 12-month per year position (1.0 FTE) with rank (assistant, associate, or full professor) commensurate with education and experience that will preferably begin at the start of Fall 2025.

Essential Functions

  • This position is primarily responsible for clinical service/supervision and some teaching for the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department and College of Allied Health Sciences.
  • Clinical and service responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Audiology clinical services (audiology clinic management, student one-on-one and small group supervision, diagnostics and hearing aids), primary instruction of audiology clinical practicum; participation in student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; participation in program committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other activities assigned by the Department Chair.
  • While student instruction (clinical or didactic) is central to this position, service and scholarship activities are also required, consistent with the missions and faculty evaluative criteria of the University, College, and Department.

Minimum Requirements

  • Clinical doctorate (AuD) in audiology
  • Current or eligible for Ohio Licensure to practice audiology
  • Current or eligible for certificate of clinical competence in audiology (CCC-A)
  • At least three (3) years full-time experience, or equivalent, in the independent provision of clinical services across a broad range of audiology
  • Evidence of involvement in service and professional activities
  • Prior supervision and mentoring experience with doctor of audiology students in a clinical setting
  • A commitment to utilizing and teaching evidence-based practice
  • Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow-through to effectively mentor students
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with the Clinic Director, CSD faculty, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to assist with tasks assigned by Department Chair
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • PhD in audiology, hearing science, or related area
  • Additional certifications or specialties within the field of audiology (PASC, CH-AP, CH-TM, etc)
  • Teaching or research experience
  • Specific clinical expertise with implants (CI, BAHA, etc.), auditory processing disorders, tinnitus, and/or balance
  • Experience with electronic health records as well as current procedure and diagnostic coding
  • Experience in clinic management/administration
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels
