Technical Project Manager
Location: Akron, OH – 4 to 5 days/week onsite (more onsite presence upfront and then will taper off)

This job description defines the scope and deliverables for the project planning, management and coordination of rollout services for Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Infrastructure (Entra AD, Intune) and other Microsoft. This includes rollout to roughly 40 facilities and 17 client / education labs. The weekly hours will average 40 hours per week but may vary from week to week depending on project needs. Responsibilities :
The consultant will provide project management services as outlined below. All work will be prioritized by the IT Director. Work will include the following:
- To drive tasks to completion across internal teams and third-party vendors with clear accountability, reporting and risk management.
- To partner with a third-party vendor to manage the execution of the project tasks in the project plan in a timely manner.
- To communicate project task completion to the third-party at least on a weekly basis.
- To identify missing, redundant or unnecessary tasks in the plan and communicate to the vendor.
- To track tasks, milestones, issues, risks and dependencies and communicate them to the third-party vendor (as well as to the IT Team and IT Director).
- To manage the internal planning, testing and confirmation of the new infrastructure (Entra AD, Intune) and ensuring adequate documentation exists.
- To support identity, access and device management tasks.
- To manage the iteration plans and tasks for the facility rollout including facility inventories, lists of facility needs (computers / ram needs, licensing needs based on user personas), special needs for staff during the rollout (special software, tools) and identify gaps to ensure we have solid plans for successful facility rollouts. Confirm all plans with facility leads prior to each rollout.
- To provide on-site and/or remote oversight as needed for the actual deployments to the roughly 40 facilities and all the client labs along with any issues that are encountered in the rollout. Log, track and coordinate resolution of issues in collaboration with the IT Team and/or IT Director.
- To work with the IT Purchasing staff to ensure we purchase the correct computers, computer types and software licenses for each facility in time for the rollout. Track procurement dependencies that may impact rollout timeliness.
- To work with the IT Help desk team to ensure all computers are accurately documented, staged and prepared for deployment (proper tracking, naming and labeling in the asset management system and the asset spreadsheet). Offer recommendations for process improvements when possible.
- To maintain accurate records of computer assets to be decommissioned. Work with the IT Help Desk team to understand the nuances for owned equipment and county owned equipment.
- To maintain operational updates to assets during deployment and lifecycle changes (e.g. as people are hired or termed or move around the company).
- To determine training needs. Work with the internal training department to prepare the training and a training schedule for the new Microsoft desktops and tools.
- To attend all project meetings and document meeting minutes, decisions and action items, including tracking action items to closure.
- To ensure adherence to project scope, identify scope creep, and discuss scope issues and mitigation plans with IT Director.
- To assist with project documentation (requirements, test plans, diagrams, etc.) and be sure project artifacts are stored and accessible as needed.
- Any project management related work not outlined in this statement of work that is necessary for the successful completion of the project will be discussed with the consultant and included as needed.
