Hughes Quality Eyecare is a one location optometry practice. We have an immediate opening for an optician. Our busy practice has two doctors (one full-time and one part-time) with multiple examination lanes. Previous optometric/medical experience required; however, no optician license is needed. Office hours are Monday through Friday without weekends, late nights, or holidays. No medical/dental insurance offered. Benefits include paid holidays, vacation time, vision exam/materials, Simple IRA retirement plan, and corporate attire after specified time of employment.

Optician Responsibilities

• Order, verify, and dispense spectacles/contact lenses
• Adjust and repair spectacles
• Gather spectacle measurements (seg height, pupillary distance)
• Obtain insurance authorizations
• Submit claims for materials to insurance companies, especially VSP and Eyemed
• Collect and apply payments to ledger in Compulink EHR system
• Conduct contact lens insertion and removal (I&R) classes
• Schedule appointments, stock supplies, greet patients, answer phones, make reminder calls for upcoming appointments
• Comply with office policies and HIPAA
• Show initiative to accomplish practice goals
• Desire for career longevity
• Ability to interact with fellow employees and management in a professional manner
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in office space and exam rooms
• Willingness and motivation to learn about the technical side of the practice, including but not limited to pretesting, preparing patient charts for the doctor (gathering chief complaint, health/ocular history, medications, allergies, and family history), and operate special testing (Visual Field, OCT, and Fundus Photos)
