Position Summary: Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of materials and equipment to job sites, customers, and company facilities. This position requires experience operating piggyback/portable forklifts (Moffett or Princeton) to load and unload materials at delivery locations. The driver ensures timely deliveries, maintains accurate documentation, and upholds company safety and customer service standards.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers to transport materials, tools, and equipment to designated locations.
- Operate piggyback (Moffett/Princeton) forklifts to load/unload materials at customer sites and job locations.
- Verify accuracy of delivery tickets, bills of lading, and load quantities before departure.
- Secure loads properly to comply with DOT, company, and safety regulations.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of truck, trailer, and piggyback equipment.
- Maintain logs, delivery records, and reports as required by DOT and company policy.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and site personnel to coordinate deliveries.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety policies.
- Assist with general yard and equipment maintenance when not on deliveries.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience/Qualifications Required:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable CDL driving experience (preferred).
- Experience operating piggyback forklifts (Moffett or Princeton) required.
- CDL License endorsement A for straight trucks and semi-trucks.
- HAZMAT endorsement
Education:
· High School or GED Equivalent
- On-the-job and equipment-specific training provided.
Job Skills:
- Safe and efficient driving skills with defensive driving practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage delivery schedules and meet deadlines.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic truck and equipment troubleshooting.
- Team-oriented attitude with willingness to assist in yard or warehouse operations. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements:
· Able to pass the DOT physical.
· Able to climb in and out of truck.
· Lift items weighing up to 60lbs.
· Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Good knowledge of Ohio and cities.
· Knowledge of all DOT regulations.
