Production Worker
Job Title: Production Worker
Job Description
This role focuses on transforming raw metal tubing into precision, ultra-small diameter products through a series of manufacturing processes. You operate and monitor production equipment, ensure tubing is drawn, heated, reduced, extruded, degreased, cut, coiled, and packaged according to exact customer specifications, and perform quality inspections throughout the process. Your work directly supports the accurate and timely fulfillment of custom orders in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive raw metal tubing materials, including stainless steel and niche metals, and prepare them for production.
- Operate and monitor manufacturing machines that draw (pull) tubing through multiple stages to achieve the required diameter, shape, and thickness.
- Run tubing through 10–13 draw processes as needed, ensuring the metal becomes more malleable and reaches the specified size.
- Perform heating, melting, reducing, extruding, degreasing, and cutting operations on tubing according to process requirements.
- Manage ultra-small diameter tubing through tight coiling systems, ensuring smooth flow and preventing tangles or jams.
- Inspect tubing continuously during production to identify defects, tangles, or quality issues and take corrective action as needed.
- Conduct detailed quality checks to verify tubing diameter, length, plugs, dies, and other specifications against order requirements.
- Perform hydro testing on tubing to identify imperfections and ensure structural integrity and performance.
- Read and interpret order specifications and production metrics, and adjust machine settings or processes to meet these requirements.
- Clean, cut, and coil finished tubing to prepare it for packaging and shipment.
- Shrink-wrap completed tubing orders and prepare them for final dispatch.
- Use hand tools and related equipment safely and effectively in support of production and inspection activities.
- Follow written and verbal instructions carefully to maintain process accuracy and product consistency.
- Apply strong math skills to measure materials, verify dimensions, and confirm tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety, efficiency, and product quality.
- Participate in daily production meetings to review customer demand, understand team goals, and align work with performance expectations.
- Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and mandatory daily meetings, supporting team accountability and workflow.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working around heated metals, machinery, and high-temperature environments.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Hands-on experience operating machines in a production or industrial setting.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and production equipment.
- Strong math skills for measuring, calculating, and verifying specifications.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately.
- Ability to inspect metal tubing and identify defects or deviations from specifications.
- Capability to lift at least 50 pounds safely and repeatedly during the workday.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfort working in a hot manufacturing environment, especially during summer months.
- Reliability in attending and arriving on time for mandatory daily production meetings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with general labor tasks in a manufacturing setting, such as packing and material handling.
- Familiarity using hand tools in a production or industrial environment.
- Quality inspection or quality-focused production work.
- Ability to read and understand production orders, customer specifications, and performance metrics.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively on the production floor.
Why Work Here?
You join a highly team-oriented environment where colleagues are friendly, welcoming, and supportive on the production floor. Daily meetings keep everyone aligned with customer demand and team goals, offering clear visibility into performance and progress. The culture emphasizes accountability, collaboration, and shared success, with production targets and achievements openly tracked to help you understand your impact. This setting offers the opportunity to build hands-on manufacturing skills, work with specialized metal tubing processes, and grow in a structured, goal-driven environment.
Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing plant that uses multiple machines to heat and process metal tubing. The facility is not air conditioned, and temperatures can become very hot in the summer, reaching up to approximately 110 degrees, so you must be comfortable working in high heat conditions. In the winter, the plant is heated and maintains a comfortable working temperature. You work around industrial machinery used for drawing, heating, reducing, extruding, degreasing, cutting, and coiling metal tubing, as well as equipment for hydro testing and shrink-wrapping finished products. Shifts follow a structured schedule: a first shift typically runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; a second shift runs Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:10 a.m.; and a fourth shift operates from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Daily on-floor meetings are held each morning to review customer demand, goals, and progress, and attendance and punctuality for these meetings are essential. The production floor is organized, goal-focused, and visually tracks requests and performance on a large whiteboard, supporting a clear and structured work environment.
