Director of Learning and Event Management
Title: Director of Learning and Event Management
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Remote
Travel: Up to 20%
Summary/Objective: The Director of Learning and Event Management oversees educational programs, curriculum design and implementation, and event management of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. This includes but is not limited to new member education, convention and regional programming, and assessment strategies. Under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, this role is also responsible for aspects of the Fraternity’s strategic initiatives and research partnerships.
Position Responsibilities:
• Oversee and expand the in-person and online educational and leadership programs
(Zenith Officers Institute, Leadership Academy, Volunteer Development Institute, Regional Conferences, Convention, membership education, volunteer training, health & safety, national-to-local chapter training and programming aligned with the Fraternity’s strategic initiatives)
• Oversight of educational and leadership programs includes:
· Curriculum design and development and program assessment
· Identify, train, certify volunteer facilitators
· Collaborate with the national education committee.
· Collaborate with staff and coordinate full-cycle programming logistics and registration processes
· Collaborate with staff for marketing, design, and layout of program materials and program campaigns
· Collaborate with the Chapter Services team to promote and implement the Fraternity’s educational programs
· Assessment: prepare, summarize, and analyze program evaluations and develop reports for presenting programs’ achievement metrics
· Collaborate with staff and manage self-service digital resources, self-paced learning paths and online educational training.
· Implement mental health, well-being, and bystander programming
· Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of programs and recommend changes as appropriate
· Enhance our partnership with Plaid, LLC and develop opportunities for education and leadership development through the Plaid LMS
• Coordinate with Chapter Services to:
· Support the training and curriculum development for volunteer education
· Ensure health and safety education is in alignment with Fraternity’s education philosophy
· Implement and enhance the Fraternity’s new member program to include annual program assessment
· Determine officer resources and training needed for staff and chapter leaders
• Partner with the staff to strategize and effectively communicate with undergraduate and volunteers
• Manage the Fraternity’s Brotherhood Survey and Assessment program
• Support the staff to assist with planning and staffing events as needed
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required.
· Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum/Instructional Design, Higher Education/Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or a related field is preferred
· Minimum of three years relevant work experience.
· Experience working with, or in, a non-profit/not-for-profit/volunteer organization a plus.
· Detail-oriented with a “big picture” vision, and implements professional work practices under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines
· Experience developing and facilitating small- and large-scale programming, conference research, and presentations
· Knowledge and practice of student development and adult learning theory is a plus
· Working knowledge of principles of education, instructional design, assessment methods, and experience with an LMS
· Proactive, self-directed, and able to effectively consult with others to solve problems
· Strong analytical thinking and interpersonal skills
· Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, program management skills, and attention to detail
· Ability to work independently and remain motivated and deadline-oriented
· Able to work a flexible schedule including travel, participation in evening and/or weekend events, conference calls, and in-person events/meetings as needed
· Ability to use products like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, and Canva a plus
· Fraternity or sorority experience is a plus.
· Membership in Phi Kappa Tau is beneficial, but not required.
