Software Engineering Manager
Title: Cloud Software Engineering Manager
Type: FTE, Salaried Exempt
Location: Cleveland, OH – Hybrid Onsite
JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead a remote cross-functional software engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and supporting cloud-based Industrial IoT products on the Microsoft Azure platform. This leader will grow and develop engineering talent, leverage diverse skillsets across the team, and ensure high quality software delivery. They will foster a collaborative culture that supports innovation, proactive problem solving, and continuous improvement while working closely with partners across the organization.
JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Lead, coach, and mentor software engineers of multiple experience levels by conducting regular 1:1s, performance discussions, and development planning.
- Partner with Product Owners to plan, prioritize, and sequence software development work.
- Own team performance outcomes, ensuring delivery reliability, quality, and adherence to KPIs while proactively addressing risks and performance gaps
- Align engineering execution with organizational strategy, long term roadmaps, and business priorities.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated solutions and smooth delivery handoffs.
- Support strategic planning by providing input on resource needs, skill gaps, and future team growth.
- Drive engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, security requirements, and engineering standards.
- Adapt team plans, priorities, and resource allocations in response to shifting business needs, operational challenges, or dependency changes
- Support customer-facing teams by providing technical insights during escalations or product questions.
- Ensure timely communication of risks, blockers, and trade-offs to senior management and partner teams.
- Monitor operational metrics and drive improvements in stability, scalability, and cloud cost optimization.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of Full Stack development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to coach and develop engineering talent through regular feedback, targeted growth plans, and ongoing support that helps team members advance their skills and careers.
- Demonstrated ability to guide architectural discussions, technical decisions, and long-term planning.
- Familiarity with cloud native development, preferably on Microsoft Azure, and DevOps practices.
- Experience leading teams that build and maintain cloud-based applications using technologies such as React, Java, C#, and MySQL, including RESTful API design, microservices, and scalable service patterns.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, and monitoring.
- Strong understanding of Scrum development methodologies and experience leading teams in iterative delivery environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for remote and cross functional collaboration.
