Material Handler
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Material Handler to join our dynamic team in Columbus, OH. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our manufacturing operations, ensuring that materials are handled efficiently and safely. Responsibilities
- Work with primary fabricators to supply and prepare all needed materials for their current jobs.
- Operate and maintain various machinery, including manual grinders, punch presses, press brakes, and overhead cranes.
- Safely operate forklifts to transport materials throughout the facility.
- Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate material handling and machining.
- Perform equipment troubleshooting and maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Utilize manual plasma cutters and gear machinery for precise material cutting and shaping.
- Employ shop math skills to measure and calculate material dimensions accurately.
- Meet physical requirements of the job, including lifting and moving heavy materials.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform equipment diagnostics.
- Manual machining skills, including experience with band saws and gear machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
Regularly works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.
