MHS is looking to add to our already impressive and professional Clinical Management Team with a Director of Youth Services to oversee our Youth Outpatient, Youth Challenges and school based programs in Clark County. This is a FT, exempt Director position, supervising, developing and implementing outpatient programming. The Director of Youth Services will provide administrative and clinical supervision of outpatient and community therapists and clinical oversight of the counseling and diagnostic assessment services. As a member of the MHS Leadership Team, you will provide valuable insight to our teams, including quality, performance improvement, safety, supervision and act as a mentor to therapists working to obtain independent status. Candidates should be prepared to work following the MHS Values and Mission statement and work to ensure the community has the necessary resources for mental health services.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the administration of the Youth Day Treatment Program and Youth Outpatient Programs. The Program Director plans, organizes, and controls the administrative functions of the programs such as finance, personnel, marketing, and staff supervision. Provides leadership for all therapeutic teams utilizing established theoretical frameworks and disciplines to resolve mental health, substance abuse, behavioral and emotional problems. Develops, expands and represents MHS on community committees and services for seriously emotionally disturbed youth in our community and serves as a liaison with youth serving agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides crisis intervention with individuals and families. Continuously and accurately assesses each patient’s potential for harming self or another in order to take appropriate action to prevent serious incidents from occurring.
  • Oversees the team’s adherence to MHS policies for professional, administrative, financial and evaluative purposes of monitoring clinical care and of assuring efficient and effective agency operations. Ensures staff are attending required trainings and educations.
  • Controls expenses and income during the course of the year to meet the budget. Ensures teams generate revenue and manage expenses to meet budget.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and development of staff and directly supervises therapeutic staff, support staff, and clinical supervisors, regarding both clinical and program management issues.
  • Manages the marketing function associated with the service areas.
  • Responsible to see that the programs meet or supersede all licensure or certifying standards including TJC, OMHAS, and managed care organizations.
  • Is a member of the Leadership Team and other committees as needed where organizational policies and procedures are generated and monitored. Provides oversight for program evaluation activities, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Participates in the strategic planning and implementation, including both administrative and therapeutic plans and growth, in cooperation with the CEO and leadership team. Implements evidence based practices as well as securing new funding streams and developing new lines of service to meet community and client needs.
  • Coordinates the administrative functions of the programs through the respective corporate functions of finance, personnel and marketing.
  • Responsible for training and utilizing appropriate working relationships with other social and caregiving networks in the community so resources may be combined with those of other agencies to produce positive changes in their patients.
  • Conducts workshops and seminars about behavioral and mental health/substance abuse principles for MHS staff and relevant target groups in the community and helps others to do the same. Regularly represents MHS to a variety of community caregivers, citizens, and community leaders, explaining MHS policies, mental health/substance abuse philosophy, and specific services and procedures associated with them.
  • Completes all paperwork necessary for professional, administrative, financial, and evaluative purposes of monitoring clinical care and of assuring efficient and effective agency operations; monitors other team members for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Is a member of Quality of Care and Patient Safety Council and monitors clinical care processes by reviewing clinical charts, reviewing criteria for admission/continued stay/discharge, performing patient care audits and investigating adverse occurrences in treatment; implements the recommendations coming from QC. Supports a culture of safety and quality and commitment to maintain a safe environment for both clients and staff.
  • Oversees the setting of patient’s fees for services, making sure that patients make equitable reimbursement for services rendered within their means to do so and that the collection of the fee is integrated into the treatment regime.
  • Regularly represents MHS to a variety of community caregivers, citizens, and community leaders, explaining MHS policies, mental health/substance abuse philosophy, and specific services and procedures associated with them.
  • Supports a culture of safety and quality and demonstrates commitment to maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Keeps in strictest confidence all that he/she might learn about a client, including the fact that a person is a mental health client at MHS or of our sister agencies. Takes special care to protect clients' rights to confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates organizational stewardship and exemplifies the mission, vision and values of MHS.
  • Performs any and all other job related tasks requested by his/her supervisor.

Education/Experience

  • Master’s in Counseling, Social Work (required)
  • 2 years’ experience working in Youth Programming/Counseling/Therapy
  • Prior experience with supervision, management Preferred
  • Experience with Joint Commission, federal and state (Ohio) regulations and standards

Licensure/Certifications

  • Ohio Social Work or Counseling Licensure LISW/LPCC/IMFT (required)
    • LISW-S/LPCC-S/IMFT-S (Preferred)
  • NVCI
  • CPR (BLS)/First Aid

MHS provides CPR/First Aid and NVCI (CPI Blue) for all new staff, along with on-going education and on-the-job training opportunities.

All MHS candidates are required to have an Ohio BCI check (FBI check required if you have lived in Ohio for less than 5 years, or for working with children), 5-panel drug screen and residential candidates must have a 2 step TB (or proof of prior TB) upon conditional offer of employment.
