Full-time Supervisory/Professional: Assistant Director of Development - Grants and Alumni
The Assistant Director of Development – Grants develops the college infrastructure to support grant opportunities, develops grant proposals in accordance with college priorities, and establishes procedures for internal review and approval of grant proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-inclusive):
- Identify and research corporate, foundation, and government grant opportunities that align with institutional priorities.
- Monitor trends in philanthropic funding and grantmaking to inform and adapt strategies for securing support.
- Collaborate with academic, administrative, finance, and program staff to develop project concepts, identify appropriate funding sources, and gather data for use in proposals and reports.
- Develop, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, budgets, narratives, and all required supporting documentation. Assist in crafting compelling cases for support and stewardship materials for current and prospective funders.
- Develop and implement systems to monitor grant compliance, track project activities and expenditures, and ensure alignment with approved proposals and funder requirements.
- Maintain detailed documentation, manage deadlines through a grant calendar, and provide regular updates and reports to leadership.
- Participate in internal and external meetings to support grant development, coordination, and implementation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with funding agencies, coordinating all communication, including site visits, evaluations, and audits.
- Prepare and submit interim and final grant reports that clearly communicate project progress, outcomes, and impact.
- Develop corrective action plans, as needed, to address project challenges and ensure successful grant completion.
- Monitor and stay up-to-date on changes in government grant regulations and philanthropic trends to ensure compliance and inform proactive strategy.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with foundation officers, corporate giving representatives, and other institutional funders.
- Assist with initiatives to increase alumni involvement and support.
- Assist with alumni networking events and volunteer engagement opportunities.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of alumni newsletters, and targeted communications.
- Cultivate relationships with alumni to encourage philanthropy and participation in college initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education/Training and Experience Required/Preferred
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and at least three years’ experience with grants management and/or grant writing experience is required.
- A master’s degree is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
B. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of educational funding opportunities and a successful track record in securing external grants/contracts.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and writing and editing skills.
- Strong organizational and budgetary abilities.
- Database management skills.
- Ability to adapt work processes or methods to accommodate changes in work requirements.
- Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment in decisions.
- Ability to discern the need for and maintain confidentiality.
C. Physical Activity Level
- Light – Sit sometimes, walk and stand sometimes, lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This is a year-round exempt position assigned to pay grade 4 of the Administrative and Supervisory/Professional Salary Schedule . The anticipated hiring range is $56,735 - $70,000/year.

- Please note: The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within the minimum to the mid-point of the salary range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
