Job Description:

Reports to: Lead Cemetery Groundskeeper

FSLA Status: Non - Exempt, Full - Time Hourly

Job Summary:

This position works under supervision to perform tasks of a physical nature involving the interment of human remains and to perform general unskilled and semi – skilled grounds maintenance, landscape, and facility maintenance and repair work.

Primary Duties:

· Works individually or with another groundskeeper to: properly ensure accuracy of interments and inurnments; opening and closing graves; and preparation of grave sites.

· Responsible for setting monument foundations, straightening monuments, mowing grass, trimming around monuments, weeding, pruning, planting, regrading and other activities related to grounds care.

· Assists in maintaining all buildings, equipment and grounds in a manner for efficient and appropriate operation of the cemetery.

· Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.

· Keep vehicles and equipment clean as needed.

· Follow all safety rules and regulations.

· Keep work location, shop, and break rooms clean and orderly.

· Perform general clean up, (leaf removal, snow clearing, etc.) in cemetery.

· Report all accidents, injuries, damage to equipment and/or property.

· Complete work orders and service requests.

· Operate power equipment and hand tools.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools & Equipment Used:

· Motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck with plow and salt spreader, utility truck, backhoe, saws, pumps, common hand tools, shovels, wrenches, large/small riding mowers.

Education, Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· At least six months of grounds and/or landscaping experience required. Experience with lawn and garden equipment preferred but willing to train the right candidate.

· Must have valid Ohio driver’s license and appropriate training to operate large equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· At all-time exhibit respectable and professional appearance and behavior.

· Be accommodating and respectful to all who come in contact with the Cemetery.

· Must be punctual, efficient and able to work independently or as a team.

· Ability to understand oral and written communications.

· Knowledge of safety precautions.

· Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance are required. Ability to stand, walk and move rapidly for entire work shift. Ability to bend, stoop, twist, turn frequently and climb stairs.

· Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.

· Ability to perform heavy manual work for extended periods of time and in inclement weather. Able to lift up to 80 lbs.

· Ability to learn computer procedures and safe operating techniques of equipment.
