GIS Technician Associate
A GIS Technician Associate is needed for a world class utility company in the New Albany, OH area. This position will translate field notes and sketches into accurate digital data to ensure the company's mapping systems match real-world conditions & will use Electric Office and GIS tools to create and update technical maps and equipment records for the electric grid. location: New Albany, Ohio

work hours: 8am to 5pm
education: Associates responsibilities:
- Create, revise, and maintain high-quality cartographic output and technical maps.
- Utilize Electric Office software to manipulate and manage geographic data.
- Digitize new data from field surveys, sketches, marked drawings, and field notes.
- Maintain accurate material and property equipment records within GIS databases.
- Interpret technical information from vendor catalogs, reference manuals, and electronic communications.
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve data discrepancies and ensure maps reflect actual field conditions.
- Generate custom reports by pulling data from both graphical and non-graphical databases.
- Operate large-scale plotters and specialized duplicating equipment for physical map production.
- Apply conventional drafting symbols and automated drawing methods to technical sketches.
- Manage and organize basic datasets using Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Access.
- Perform field data entry and quality control to ensure spatial accuracy.
- Create, revise and maintain technical data used for reports maps and sketches.
- Create revise and maintain material and property equipment records.
- Obtain information required to perform work from multiple resources including; verbal/electronic communications, sketches, marked drawings, field notes, vendors' catalogs and technical reference manuals.
- Operate large scale plotters and other duplicating equipment.
- Work with other organizations of the company to resolve discrepancies to assure that data reflects accurate field conditions.
- Generate reports defined to pull data from graphical and non-graphical databases.
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting or related field or
- Associate's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting or related field, plus one year experience. or
- High School/equivalency, 3 years related GIS experience.
