The coach will also cultivate strong cross-campus relationships to streamline access to student support services and contribute to developing an inclusive and vibrant online learning community that positions Miami as a leader in online student experience and success.

Job Description

  • Serve as the "First Stop" of online student support, providing key mentorship and guidance to online students in finding additional resources, answering routine questions, and providing extra support as needed.
  • Maintain records and triage more complex cases to appropriate offices; follow up on critical issues to ensure resolution and continued student engagement.
  • Build key partnerships with various campus offices, including advising, One Stop, counseling, and career services. Develop and maintain a digital hub or resource library tailored to online students, centralizing access to academic, technical, and wellness support.
  • Develop and maintain reports to track, communicate, and measure online retention efforts.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to engage colleges, community, and employers in educational programming and outreach events to advance online student opportunities for engagement and professional/personal development.
  • Analyze the Miami Online distance education faculty and student experiences, always seeking to impact student success.
  • Demonstrate commitment to a personal and professional growth mindset by engaging in the continuous investigation of emerging technologies, pedagogies, and leadership best practices through educational opportunities; professional publications or presentations; advancing personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; Two years of experience working in a student support capacity, such as advising, academic coaching, tutoring or instruction, or first-year experience programming. Experience gained during a related graduate program can apply (graduate experience is prorated; 1 semester of an assistantship is equivalent to 2.25 months of full-time experience).

Consideration may be given to applicants with experience working with fully online students. Master's in college student development or a related field of study. Experience working with a variety of student types, including non-traditional students, first-generation college students, graduate students, and more.
