Job Title:Physician - Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology, General Nephrology (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Wexner Medical Center seeks an academic nephrology physician to join the Division of Nephrology. The academic rank and track are commensurate with the academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) is currently seeking a General Nephrologist to join our elite team of physicians and support the growing clinical, transplant, and research programs. The expansion of our services across the medical center has led to an increase in clinical volume throughout the OSUWMC and has created opportunities to add additional nephrologists with clinical and educational interests.

The Division provides comprehensive care for a large CKD population, transplant patients, and an extensive consultative nephrology practice. Additionally, the Division is engaged in basic science and translational/clinical research and is responsible for teaching medical students, house officers, and fellows. Various academic/career paths are available that can be tailored to a candidate’s areas of interest. Faculty titles may be at the Assistant or Associate Professor Level based on qualifications.

The Nephrology Division is one of 14 divisions in the Department of Internal Medicine. Located in the Doan Office Tower, the Nephrology Division is part of The OSUWMC to include University Hospitals, The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, and The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine/Nephrology
  • Nephrology Fellowship trained


Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank)
- Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
