FITNESS ROOM ATTENDANT

GENERAL PURPOSE :

The Fitness Room Attendant ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members and guests using the fitness center. This role involves monitoring fitness room activities, providing assistance with equipment, enforcing facility policies, and maintaining cleanliness and equipment functionality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greet and assist members, guests, and staff in a professional and friendly manner.
• Monitor fitness floor to ensure proper use of equipment and enforce safety rules.
• Provide basic instruction on how to use fitness equipment safely.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and surfaces regularly throughout the day.
• Perform regular equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Re-rack weights and maintain a neat, organized workout area.
• Respond to emergencies and injuries following facility protocols and first aid procedures.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and daily operational tasks.
• Promote wellness programs and answer basic fitness-related questions.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for all facility users.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to established guidelines and procedures.
• Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while representing the Department.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Performs related duties as required.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

· High school graduate or equivalent experience and/or related education and at least eighteen (18) years of age.

· CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

· Prior experience in a fitness or customer service role (preferred).

· Knowledge of fitness equipment and safety practices (preferred).

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to remain alert, professional, and proactive during shifts.
