The Accounts Receivable Specialist / Staff Accountant is responsible for billing, accounts receivable (A/R), cash reconciliation, collections, new customer approval and processing, and reconciling general ledger account balances.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Create timely and accurate customer billings.
- Responsible for all Request to Invoice and special billings, including project and grant billings.
- Improve cash flow from efficient collection process and improved communications.
- Perform cash applications, resolve customer billing issues, reconcile accounts and discrepancies, and post journal entries as needed.
- Perform daily reconciliation of all cash accounts and prepare daily bank deposits.
- Calculate and post receipts to the appropriate g/l accounts and verify details of transactions, such as funds received and total account balances.
- Generate and maintain an accurate AR Aging and provide notes/comments for management review.
- Provides management with business credit reports for potential/new/existing customers/partners and setup new customers in Great Plains.
- Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of the AR subledger to the general ledger generate AR reports as assigned by Management.
- Responsible for generating, maintaining, and daily publishing of the feedstock report.
- Assist with Month-end close for all cash related transactions, sales transactions, and recurring accruals.
- Perform special projects and new tasks as assigned by management.
- Assist and perform AP functions as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- General office duties, filing, answering phones, etc.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position, public accounting preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting software is required; Great Plains experience is preferred. Must have technical aptitude to navigate Great Plains software with minimal training.
- Ability to multi-task with high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to bring projects to successful completion.
- Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
- Must be resourceful, inquisitive, and able to retain training.
- Must have excellent communications skills.
- Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
