What pbl is

pbl is the loop between climbers and their gyms. Climbers log sends and rate routes in the mobile app. Their gym sees all of it in real time in the portal. we're heading into beta with real gyms waiting on it, and we need someone helping us make the brand visible everywhere that matters.

The role

You'd be pbl's first graphic designer. You'd work with Kaitlyn on brand (she owns the identity system) and Brian on marketing (he sets the direction and briefs). Your job is to take our brand into every surface we need it on. Flyers, posters, banners, event materials, social assets, campaigns, print-ready files for our gym partners, etc.

The brand identity already exists. You're not starting from a blank page. You're the one bringing it into all the places it needs to live, and helping it evolve where it makes sense.

What you'll actually do

• Design print materials: flyers, posters, banners, event graphics, anything our gym partners need in their facility
• Produce digital assets for social, campaigns, and partner communications
• Prep final print-ready files. CMYK, bleeds, the works.
• Work inside the brand system. push on it when you see something that could be sharper.
• Partner with Kaitlyn on brand evolution and Brian on marketing priorities

Who this is for

• Solid graphic design background with a portfolio that shows range across print and digital
• Fluent in Illustrator and InDesign
• Comfortable in an existing brand system. you work inside it and sharpen it, not burn it down.
• Self-directed. You take a brief, ask the right questions, and ship.
• Bonus if climbing, the outdoors, or action sports speak to you. Not required, but it tends to correlate with people who get pbl .

Who this isn't for

• Designers who need a detailed art directive for every asset
• Anyone looking for a full-time salaried design role. This is scoped contract work.
• Anyone who wants to rebuild a brand system from scratch. Ours exists and we like it.

Pay

Contract, pay-per-job. We scope each engagement up front with a project rate that matches standard market rates for graphic design. If volume picks up sustainably, we'd revisit a retainer or longer-term arrangement.

Flexibility is real. We don't track hours. We don't care when or where you work. How you get to good is yours to figure out. We care that the work is good, and that you're the kind of person who notices when something's off and fixes it before anyone asks.
