Healspace LLC and Talbot Health Services provide behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services through evidence-based, multidisciplinary, and recovery-focused care. Our programs support individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and co-occurring needs through individualized treatment designed to promote long-term recovery and wellness.
We are seeking an experienced and clinically strong Medical Director to provide leadership and oversight of medical services and support the continued growth of our Monroe Street treatment programs.
This position serves as a key leadership role responsible for medical oversight, treatment quality, clinical collaboration, and supporting safe and effective patient care throughout the organization.
Candidates with behavioral health, addiction medicine, psychiatric, and substance use treatment leadership experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position Summary
The Medical Director provides leadership and oversight of medical services within an Ohio behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment environment. This role collaborates closely with executive leadership, psychiatric providers, nursing teams, counselors, and operational leadership to ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.
Responsibilities include medical oversight, policy development, provider collaboration, treatment guidance, quality initiatives, and ensuring medical services align with organizational standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Provide physician oversight and leadership for medical services and programming
- Support and oversee Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and behavioral health treatment initiatives
- Provide consultation and collaboration regarding patient care and treatment planning
- Supervise or provide oversight for medical staff and provider teams as applicable
- Support development and implementation of medical policies, procedures, and protocols
- Assist with quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Review medical practices and support evidence-based treatment approaches
- Collaborate with clinical, nursing, and operational leadership teams
- Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning initiatives
- Support accreditation readiness and regulatory compliance activities
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment discussions as needed
- Maintain professional standards and applicable regulatory requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Ohio Physician (MD or DO) license required and maintained in good standing
- Board certification or board eligibility preferred
- DEA registration required where applicable
- Experience treating substance use disorders and behavioral health populations required
- Experience with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) preferred
- Knowledge of addiction medicine principles preferred
- Experience within behavioral health or substance use treatment environments preferred
- Strong leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration skills required
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in Addiction Medicine, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related specialty preferred
- Experience in an OhioMHAS-certified treatment environment preferred
- Experience supporting co-occurring treatment populations preferred
- Experience with outpatient, MAT, residential, or behavioral health programming preferred
- Experience with CARF or regulatory survey readiness preferred
