About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Tele Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day/Night Rotation Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Previous travel experience preferred - Epic experience required - Experience with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions - Experience with equianalgesic dosing of opioids Description: Palliative care focuses on providing relief from the side effects of serious illness. This unit provides symptom management for patients under treatment experiencing uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, fatigue, etc., to enhance their quality of life. The ideal candidates are medical-surgical nurses who wish to enhance their palliative care skills while also seeing other high-acuity medical-surgical units through floating. This is a newly established unit focusing on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care emphasizing comfort, dignity, and symptom management. The primary goal is to support patients with advanced illness or imminent end of life by managing pain and other distressing symptoms while addressing emotional and psychosocial needs. Staffing ratios are 4 patients per nurse during both day and night shifts. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Candidates must complete fingerprinting as soon as the contract is signed. All candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the credentialing process. Travelers must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing to avoid potential delays. Two professional references are required, including at least one from a manager or supervisor.
