Maintenance manager
Howmet Aerospace in Niles, Ohio is seeking an Asset Manager to join our maintenance team on midnight shift. This position will directly coordinate and supervise the activities of hourly workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment as well as the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utilities.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities :
- Follow Howmet’s Safety Regulations and Work Rules Handbook, along with all departmental specific safety regulations.
- Ensures all departmental/plant safety standards are met.
- Reviews job work orders to determine work priorities. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Schedules and tracks department overtime utilizing a computerized system.
- Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
- Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, cooling water, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
- Develops and operates computerized maintenance management system in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
- Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
- Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
- Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
- Requisitions tools, equipment, components, and supplies required for operations.
- Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
- Evaluates staff and recommend personnel actions as necessary.
- Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
- Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
- Recommends and monitors work performance of external contractors.
- Monitors specifications for plant concerning OSHA, EPA, and other governmental applicable codes and regulations.
- Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 1-year experience supervising/managing a team.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications :
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, Business Administration, or equivalent from four-year college or technical school is preferred.
- Related experience and/or training in industrial maintenance in a heavy industrial setting.
Skills and Abilities :
- Reads, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions using analytical reasoning. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to use computer software systems such as Microsoft Office suite and relational databases. Power BI experience is preferred.

Equipment Used : Standard office equipment to include personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and other related equipment. Must have working knowledge of various testing equipment and hand-held tools.
