Business Intelligence Engineer II

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer II for a finance-focused client supporting highly sensitive data initiatives. This individual will work closely with Finance stakeholders to gather reporting requirements, design data models, and deliver high-quality Power BI dashboards. The ideal candidate is technically strong in Power BI, SQL, and DAX, and equally comfortable leading requirement-gathering conversations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating complex business needs into intuitive, secure, and scalable BI solutions.

Day-to-Day:

• Partner with Finance stakeholders to gather and document reporting requirements

• Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports

• Build and maintain SQL queries and data models

• Create DAX measures and calculations to support business insights

• Use Power Query (M Language) for data transformation

• Ensure secure access to sensitive financial data

• Participate in requirement-gathering sessions and solution design discussions

• Continuously improve performance, usability, and reliability of BI solutions

Skills and Requirements

Must-Haves:

• 3 years of Power BI (hands-on development experience)

• 4 years SQL (advanced querying)

• SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

• DAX (measures, calculations, optimization)

• Power Query / M Language

• Experience building secure, data-sensitive BI solutions

• Strong requirement gathering / criteria gathering experience

• Ability to translate business needs into Power BI solutions

• Experience working directly with Finance or business stakeholders - Power Automate

• Python

• Exposure to Databricks

• Experience with Row-Level Security (RLS)

• Understanding of data governance or access control

• Experience working in enterprise data environments
