Sr. Billing & AR Specialist

As we enter our next phase of rapid growth, we are seeking a Senior Billing & AR Specialist to join our Finance team and help drive accuracy, efficiency, and scalability in our billing, accounts receivable, and order-to-cash operations.

The Senior Billing & AR Specialist plays a key role in managing and improving the company’s billing, accounts receivable, and related contract-to-cash processes. This position ensures accurate invoicing, timely payment application, and effective collections—supporting the company’s financial health and cash flow. Additionally, this role collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, and RevOps to ensure clean data flows from Salesforce (and CPQ, if applicable) into NetSuite, supports ERP implementation, and contributes to process automation and reporting enhancements.

This role requires hands-on Salesforce experience to ensure accurate data flows and billing setup.

Billing & Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Prepare and issue accurate customer invoices in accordance with contract terms.


• Review customer and billing information in Salesforce/CPQ to ensure accuracy before automated billing schedules are generated in NetSuite.


• Verify invoices include correct PO numbers, tax settings, and billing details.


• Apply customer payments and perform timely reconciliations.


• Manage collections by proactively following up on past-due invoices while maintaining strong customer relationships.


• Monitor AR aging reports, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed.


• Respond to customer billing, payment, and statement inquiries.


• Prepare and analyze monthly revenue reconciliations to ensure proper revenue recognition.


• Prepare and record monthly deferred revenue entries.

Contract & Data Validation

• Review and validate new customer contracts, SOWs, and renewals for completeness and accuracy before billing setup.


• Ensure Salesforce/CPQ data integrity (terms, pricing, products, and dates) and coordinate corrections with Sales and Customer Success.


• Support customer onboarding by ensuring contract and system data are complete, accurate, and ready for invoicing.


• Maintain billing readiness checklists, playbooks, and documentation.


• Partner with Sales, RevOps, and Accounting to resolve discrepancies in customer or contract data.


• Provide reporting and insights on billing readiness and contract data quality.

Process Improvements & Systems

• Participate in testing and validation of Salesforce-driven billing workflows and revenue rules during ERP implementation.


• Support the ERP implementation team by validating data mappings and configurations in NetSuite.


• Monitor and maintain billing accuracy post-implementation by comparing Salesforce schedules with NetSuite-generated invoices.


• Assist with transition to new banking and treasury configurations in NetSuite.


• Identify and lead improvements in the order-to-cash workflow and cross-system integrations (Salesforce → NetSuite).


• Train and support new Billing and AR staff to ensure successful onboarding.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and FP&A to ensure billing schedules and revenue recognition align with contract terms.


• Partner with Accounting and AP teams to support month-end close and cash flow forecasting.


• Support audit requests related to AR, billing, and revenue.


• Generate and maintain key reports including Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), billing accuracy metrics, and contract data quality dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


• 5+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or related accounting/revenue operations functions.


• Hands-on experience with monthly/quarterly close and revenue processes.


• Strong proficiency with Salesforce (and CPQ if applicable) and accounting systems such as NetSuite.


• Familiarity with system integrations between ERP, CRM, and billing platforms.


• Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities.


• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams.


• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.


• Experience in a high-growth or technology environment.

Preferred

• Direct experience supporting an ERP implementation (NetSuite preferred).


• Experience validating data flows and billing logic between Salesforce/CPQ and ERP systems.


• Knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606) and deferred revenue processes.
