● Establish short- and long-term goals that support the school’s academic, athletic, and spiritual priorities.
● Collaborate with the Athletic Director and administrative leadership to ensure program alignment with school-wide objectives.

Coaching & Player Development

● Instruct, mentor, and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential athletically and personally.
● Evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and individualized development plans.
● Promote academic accountability, ensuring all players meet OHSAA and STVM eligibility standards.
● Teach and model good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for officials, opponents, and the game.

Staff Leadership & Development

● Recruit, supervise, and mentor assistant coaches across all levels of the program.
● Foster collaboration, consistency, and professional growth among coaching staff.
● Ensure all coaches uphold school and OHSAA regulations, policies, and values.
● Encourage a unified approach to training, player evaluation, and program philosophy.

Program Administration

● Manage scheduling, equipment, facilities, and transportation in coordination with the Athletic Department.
● Oversee the program budget, fundraising initiatives, and booster engagement in collaboration with school leadership.
● Maintain accurate records for rosters, statistics, equipment inventory, and compliance documentation.
● Coordinate closely with the Athletic Trainer regarding player safety, injury prevention, and return-to-play protocols.

Culture & Community Engagement

● Serve as a visible, positive ambassador of STVM within the school, parish, and greater Akron community.

● Build strong relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, and supporters of the football program.

● Promote the program through appropriate media, social media, and community channels in coordination with the school’s Marketing & Communications Office.

● Collaborate with the Enrollment team to promote the value of the STVM experience and strengthen relationships with families, feeder schools, and the broader community.

● Participate in school-wide events, liturgies, assemblies, and service opportunities to model faith-based leadership.

● Support the Marianist mission and identity of St. Vincent–St. Mary by fostering humility, service, and community spirit.

QUALIFICATIONS

● Minimum of 3 years of head coaching experience at the varsity or collegiate level, or proven track record as a top coordinator or associate head coach.
● Demonstrated success in building and sustaining a high-character, high-performing program.
● Comprehensive knowledge of football rules, techniques, and modern coaching strategies.
● Proven ability to attract, motivate, and develop players and coaches.
● Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
● Commitment to academic excellence and faith-based education.
● CPR, First Aid, and all OHSAA coaching certifications are required prior to start.
● Bachelor’s degree required.

ATTRIBUTES & EXPECTATIONS

● A mission-driven educator and mentor who models integrity, professionalism, and faith.
● Calm under pressure yet motivationally intense, capable of inspiring excellence and accountability.
● A collaborative leader who values teamwork across sports and departments.
● A lifelong learner dedicated to professional growth and program innovation.
● Able to maintain high standards of conduct and confidentiality at all times.
