Children’s Ministry Leader (Part-Time)
New Life Church – Springfield, OH
New Life Church is seeking a part-time Children’s Ministry Director to provide leadership, structure, and vision for our children’s ministry serving children ages 2–12 . This role is focused on laying a strong spiritual and theological foundation for the next generation , while creating healthy, engaging environments and equipping volunteers to serve with clarity and confidence.

Position Summary
The Children’s Ministry Director is responsible for owning curriculum and ensuring it is implemented consistently across Sunday morning services and Wednesday evening programming . This role provides hands-on leadership on Sundays, strategic coordination midweek, and collaborates with church leadership to ensure children’s ministry aligns with the mission, values, and culture of New Life Church.
This position serves a church of approximately 120–160 people on Sunday mornings , with 30–50 children , and reports directly to the Lead Pastor .
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the spiritual formation and theological foundation of children ages 2–12 through age-appropriate teaching and intentional ministry environments.
- Develop, select, or source biblically sound curriculum for Sunday and Wednesday children’s programming.
- Lead and oversee children’s ministry during Sunday morning services .
- Coordinate and manage a flex-in volunteer schedule for Wednesday evenings to ensure curriculum continuity.
- Prepare lesson materials, outlines, and simple run-of-show plans so volunteers can serve confidently.
- Equip, develop, and empower volunteers , fostering ownership, clarity, and sustainability within the team.
- Design ministry rhythms that balance children’s discipleship , corporate worship exposure , and volunteer health .
- Plan and oversee one annual week-long summer children’s ministry event (e.g., Kids Week or Summer Kids Experience).
- Plan and oversee children’s programming for seasonal and holiday services (e.g., Christmas), collaborating with the Worship Leader and church staff for any music, flow, or special elements.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for children.
- Ensure safety policies, check-in procedures, and volunteer requirements are followed.
- Plan ministry in seasonal rhythms , not week-to-week reaction.

Qualifications
- A growing, authentic Christian faith.
- A heart for children and a passion for discipleship and spiritual formation.
- Experience in children’s ministry (volunteer or paid).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead with warmth, clarity, and consistency.
- Alignment with the mission, values, and beliefs of New Life Church.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time paid position
- Anticipated hours: 8–12 hours per week
- Primary commitments include leading Sunday mornings and planning for others to flex-in on Wednesday evenings , with additional preparation time.
- Additional hours may be required during seasonal events and the annual summer program.
- Compensation based on experience and availability.
