Key Job Details – Akron Psychiatric RN Locum Tenens

• Location: Behavioral Health Pavilion, Akron, OH 44304 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
• Unit: 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit (BHP 6th floor)
• Assignment Duration: 7 weeks (September 14, 2025 – November 1, 2025)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5, may rarely go up to 1:8
• Team: 3 Registered Nurses per shift
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910–$1960

Psychiatric RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing experience
• BLS certification (required)
• CPI certification from Crisis Prevention Institute (required)
• Accredited nursing degree (ACEN or CCNE)
• Epic EMR experience within the last 12 months
• Ability to draw blood and manage IVs
• Willingness to float to Med/Surg or Telemetry units as needed (helping hands role)
• Must be able to work every other weekend and holiday
• Interview required

Psychiatric Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality psychiatric nursing care to patients with mental health and substance use disorders
• Monitor patient status and administer medications as prescribed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Support patients by answering call lights and assisting with daily activities
• Float to Med/Surg or Telemetry units as needed, performing helping hands duties
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients
