Precision CNC Milling Machinist
Precision CNC Milling Machinist
Picture your day starting at a clean, organized workstation on either 1st or 2nd shift. You load a new job, review the customer blueprint, and plan out the sequence of operations. You choose the right tooling—whether inserts or drills—set offsets, and bring the machine up to speed. As parts come off the mill, you measure critical dimensions, compare them to tolerances, and make fine adjustments to keep everything perfectly on spec.
Your Day-to-Day
- Translate blueprints, sketches, and specifications into a clear machining plan, including operation sequence and tool changes.
- Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machining centers to produce parts that meet customer requirements.
- Inspect sample and in-process parts, verifying conformance to finish specifications with precise measurements.
- Monitor machine cycles to catch malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, then adjust controls or programs to correct issues.
- Support machine teardowns when needed and validate final part quality before sign-off.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production teammates to troubleshoot machining or assembly challenges.
- Maintain a tidy, safe, and well-organized work area; contribute to overall shop cleanliness.
- Handle additional responsibilities as assigned and uphold strong attendance and punctuality standards, ensuring coverage and on-time presence for shifts and meetings.
Schedule
Openings available on both 1st and 2nd shifts .
What You Bring
- High School diploma or GED, and/or a minimum of 2 years machining experience.
- Skill reading and interpreting safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Comfort using calculators, computers, and reference materials to support accurate machining.
- Ability to solve practical problems as they arise within the scope of the role.
How You Work
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and learns quickly.
- Reliable presence—show up when it counts and support the team.
- Positive, collaborative attitude; able to plan work and execute across teams.
- Clear communicator, both written and verbal.
The Work You’ll Do (and Not Do)
- You will work with advanced equipment including CNC Mills (3–4 axis VMC and 5+ axis VMC) to produce custom parts—no two days look the same.
- You will use inspection techniques and basic statistical analysis to maintain part and process quality.
- You won’t feel stuck—there are strong opportunities to learn and grow.
- You won’t be bored—custom work keeps things fresh.
- You won’t feel like a number—expect a close-knit, supportive team.
Note: Duties may evolve; flexibility and teamwork are key.
