Position Summary The Manager, Ohio Centers Operations works closely with the Senior Manager, Ohio Centers Operations in running day-to-day operational activities of the Ohio Conservation Action Centers. This position is responsible for managing guest services, retail stores at both centers, special events and rentals to build additional revenue opportunities. They will work to ensure visitors feel welcomed and engaged and are energized with a greater understanding of local, regional and hemispheric conservation issues. Compensation $62,000 - $70,000 / year Additional Job Description Essential Functions- Manage Guest Services departments for both Ohio Centers and responsible for reporting admission and gift shop revenues, expenses and works closely with the Senior Manager on the department budget.
- Oversee scheduling and management of admissions and gift shop regular and seasonal staff, connecting in person at both centers as needed.
- Manage retail operations including supplier agreements, point of sale system, ordering merchandise and will work closely with the Senior Manager for retail strategy.
- Manage Aullwood rental program and support the Senior Manager with Ohio Centers rental program strategy and vendor RFP process.
- Ensure the centers are open on time and in welcome condition, and securely closed each evening, including cash reconciliation.
- Perform daily monitoring of the centers facility and exhibits to ensure that the facilities are in good condition and track facility maintains requests/needs.
- Support the Senior Manager with appropriate systems and data for evaluation and guest feedback.
- Regularly serve as Manager on Call to respond to emergencies, security issues and point of contact with Butler Township and Metro Parks law enforcement.
- Works Closely with the Senior Manager, Ohio Centers Community Building to support and co-lead on special events.
- Support a culture of philanthropy, including public funding efforts.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas including through joint planning and execution of shared priorities.
- Maintains and fosters culture of safety.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in visitor engagement retail, nonprofit management and/business. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong emotional intelligence, and passionate about conservation and Audubon’s mission to protect birds and the habitats they need now and in the future.
- Passion for working with people, history, culture and community building.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee and mentor professional staff while working effectively in a team-based environment.
- Effective and efficient time management skills are critical.
- Experience managing budgets, including profit and loss and measuring program metrics.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, judgment and demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and build partnerships with other organizations.
- Must have a positive and innovative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including morning and evening hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Proficiency in MS office products including Outlook, Work and Excel. Working knowledge of other business software platforms such as Point of Sales Systems.
