Healthcare Workforce Development Recruiter and Advisor
Muskingum University invites applications for a Healthcare Workforce Development Recruiter and Advisor. This is a temporary position lasting approximately two years. The Recruiter and Advisor is responsible for attracting prospective adult learners and providing comprehensive academic advising to support their educational goals. This role involves developing and implementing recruitment strategies, guiding students through the admissions process, and offering ongoing academic support to ensure student success and retention.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruitment
- Execute targeted recruitment plans to attract adult learners, including underrepresented populations.
- Represent the institution at community events, job fairs, and other outreach activities to promote programs.
- Utilize various communication methods (e.g., email, phone, face-to-face, Zoom, social media) to engage with prospective students.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to create materials tailored to adult learners.
- Advising
- Provide personalized academic advising to prospective and enrolled adult students, assisting with course selection and program planning.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of advising interactions.
- Connect students with campus resources, such as tutoring and career services, to support their success.
- Implement intrusive advising techniques to proactively address potential challenges and keep students on track; link to student services.
- Program Development
- Stay informed about program offerings, requirements, and updates to provide accurate information to students.
- Work closely with faculty and staff to understand curriculum changes and ensure advising practices align with program goals.
- Data Management
- Maintain detailed records of recruitment activities and advising sessions.
- Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and advising interventions, making adjustments as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in higher education recruitment, academic advising, or related roles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse adult learners.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and best practices in advising adult students.
- Proficiency in data management and analysis tools.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate adult learners' schedules.
- Respect and value diverse backgrounds and experiences, ensuring inclusive support for all students.
- Manage multiple responsibilities efficiently, including recruitment events and advising appointments.
- Understand the unique challenges adult learners face and provide compassionate support.
