Job Post End Date: 09/14/2025 About this opportunity: Join Cenovus Energy as a Senior Process Development Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in advancing our Front-End Development projects at Ohio Refineries in Toledo and Lima. This opportunity allows you to validate business needs, develop low-cost solutions, and ensure our capital portfolio remains competitive. You will collaborate with asset teams, technical experts, and EHS resources to align on project solutions and support procedure development, commissioning, and operational training. Relocation to Toledo, OH, or Lima, OH required. What you’ll do:- Lead project development and select phases, including front-end engineering design, scope definition, and cost/schedule optimization to ensure alignment with business objectives and capital efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with EHS, Reliability, Asset, and Infrastructure teams to identify capital opportunities, validate assumptions, and incorporate operational needs into project planning.
- Develop and justify project concepts, including economic models, risk assessments, and problem statements to support strategic decision-making and long-range planning.
- Ensure technical quality and compliance, reviewing and approving process engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, H&MBs, equipment sizing, and process safety documentation.
- Support process safety and MOC activities, acting as a technical resource to ensure safe and compliant implementation of design changes.
- Drive margin improvement initiatives, working with SMEs and commercial teams to identify and implement cost-effective technical solutions that enhance asset performance.
- Perform quality control and assurance on detailed engineering work, including relief calculations, flare loading, alarm management, and process safety information.
- Rank and prioritize capital projects based on return on investment, complexity, and strategic alignment to support portfolio optimization.
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering required
- 8+ years of experience in Refining process and project engineering
- Strong technical computing literacy for modeling, simulation, and data analysis
- Willing to travel approximately 15% of the time between Ohio Refineries
