Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Overview : The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for the accurate and efficient management of financial transactions within the Oregon Conference. This role involves preparing, processing, and verifying payments through various methods, ensuring compliance with organizational procedures and regulatory requirements. The Accounts Payable Clerk maintains meticulous records, supports the Treasury department in annual audits.
Responsibilities : The Accounting Clerk responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties and areas.
- Performs data entry related to A/P function.
- Receive, reconcile, and record invoices and statements from vendors
- Receive and record check requests from other Conference departments
- Handle A/P for Big Lake Youth Camp, as well as filing/printing/mailing checks
- Handle A/P, JV for all Conference departments, filing/printing/mailing
- Communicate with vendors as needed
- Reconcile corporate credit card statements for NWAFCU
- Manage application of document retention policy
- Process 1099 forms for conference
- Processing of expenses for the moving department
- Other general office management duties (process mail, filing, etc.)
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Personal Spiritual Life: The Accounts Payable Clerk for the Oregon Conference should exhibit evidence of a strong spiritual life, being firmly grounded in a personal relationship with Jesus. They must be supportive of the fundamental doctrines, teachings, mission, and the distinctive lifestyle standards of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial data and transactions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks at once through completion by deadline date.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to work with employees and external contacts.
- Passion for supporting ministry and serving others in sharing the Gospel within our Conference field, through excellent service in processing Conference funds.
- Strong commitment to ethical integrity and responsible stewardship of church funds.
- Practice confidentiality of information at all times.
- Possess strong computer skills and a desire to innovate and learn new programs.
- Possess adequate working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of policy and procedures of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Have knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
Education/Experience :
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business is preferred, but applicable work experience may be accepted in lieu of education.
- Prior experience in accounts payable work, accounting, business, or bookkeeping is preferred.
- Knowledge of Seventh-day Adventist church organization structure is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Teams, with accurate and efficient keyboarding skills.
Employment Conditions/Physical Requirements : The majority of the Accounting Clerk’s time will be spent sitting at a desk, working at a computer or on the phone in an office setting. Some occasional lifting and moving of supplies and equipment will be necessary (generally less than 25 pounds).
Other : The Oregon Conference hires Seventh-day Adventist Church members in regular standing based on religious preferences permitted by the United States Constitution and controlling law.
