Vacuum Truck Operator needed 20/hr 1st Shift!

Responsibilities

  • Operate a vacuum truck and related equipment to perform industrial cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
  • Shovel and remove corn, grain, and other materials from work areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Clean and wipe down machinery and equipment both inside and outside the facility using appropriate tools and cleaning agents.
  • Handle and use non-hazardous chemicals safely while performing cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Work approximately 80% of the time outdoors and 20% indoors, remaining comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Support reactive maintenance and troubleshooting tasks in outdoor areas as needed.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance (PM) and repair activities in the shop when required.
  • Work at heights up to 100 feet, including on catwalks and in boom lifts, while following all fall protection and safety procedures.
  • Operate or assist with lift equipment such as forklifts and lift trucks when needed, in accordance with training and safety guidelines.
  • Follow all site safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Adapt to rotating on-call schedules every few weeks and respond to urgent or unscheduled work as required.
  • Adjust work schedule when needed for vacation coverage, extended time off coverage, pressing projects, or changing site demands.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate work, report issues, and support smooth operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and vehicles used during the shift.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating or working with vacuum trucks or water blast equipment in an industrial or similar environment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding general labor and production tasks, including shoveling and manual material handling.
  • Comfort working primarily outdoors and in changing weather conditions, with some indoor work as required.
  • Ability to work safely at heights up to 100 feet, including on catwalks and in boom lifts.
  • Familiarity with general production or industrial work environments and basic safety practices.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures, including the safe handling of non-hazardous chemicals.
  • Willingness to work a standard first-shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with rotating on-call responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule when needed for coverage, projects, or site demands.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating forklifts, lift trucks, or other lift equipment is preferred.
  • Experience working in industrial maintenance, cleaning, or production environments is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in both indoor shop areas and outdoor process areas.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work locations over time as the current site phases out and opportunities arise at other sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
