Schedule

• Must be available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift
• Rotating weekends required
• Must work at least one weekend day per week
• Schedule may change based on facility needs
• Candidates must be flexible with shifts and hours

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to individuals housed in a state-operated correctional facility . Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, treatment implementation, emergency care, and collaboration with medical staff to ensure proper healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Provide direct nursing care to inmates/patients in the facility
• Assess, monitor, and document patient symptoms, reactions, and progress
• Conduct routine nursing rounds and record vital signs
• Administer prescribed medications, immunizations, and treatment plans
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid
• Arrange emergency transport to hospital if required
• Monitor patients in restricted areas (e.g., isolation or detention) at required intervals

Clinical Procedures

Perform specialized nursing procedures such as:

• IV therapy
• Dialysis
• Chemotherapy
• Wound care
• Oxygen therapy
• Blood transfusions
• CPR
• Tube feeding
• Catheterization
• Suctioning
• Phlebotomy

Care Coordination

• Develop and review patient care plans
• Educate patients on healthcare practices
• Coordinate with physicians and medical staff
• Assist physicians during diagnostic evaluations

Leadership & Team Support

• Lead healthcare staff during assigned shifts when required
• Oversee hospital aides and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)
• Participate in staff training and orientation
• Support professional development initiatives

Documentation & Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate medical charts and treatment records
• Complete incident and accident reports
• Track Medicaid documentation where applicable
• Maintain inventory of medications, controlled substances, and medical supplies
• Order medical equipment and supplies
• Schedule clinic appointments and medical evaluations
• Coordinate prescriptions with local pharmacies

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – State of Ohio
• Licensure issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing (Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code)
