About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of postpartum experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, IV certification Must-Have: IV start skills and Labor & Delivery experience EPIC experience Description: Schedule may float to unit of similar acuity. This is a 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit that provides family-centered care to women and infants. Patient ratios during days, nights, and weekends are 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients). The unit includes interdisciplinary support such as IV teams, physical therapy, interpretation services, social services, and pharmacy. RNs will be expected to pass an EKG exam prior to start. Candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the fingerprinting process. Key responsibilities include: Administration of blood and blood products, antihypertensives, bladder assessment, and Foley catheter insertion. Providing breastfeeding instructions, care for cesarean section patients, and cord care. Discharge teaching to parents and episiotomy/incision care. Monitoring fundus, lochia, and perineum care. Identifying infants and managing insulin drips and heparin therapy. Assessing pain and interpreting dysrhythmias. Managing IV antibiotics and magnesium sulfate therapy. Providing care for low birth weight infants and normal newborn assessments. Administering vaccines and teaching circumcision care to parents. Maintaining thermoregulation and using electric/manual breast pumps. The patient population includes neonates and postpartum women with various diagnoses.
