About the Role
An established, world-class manufacturing leader is searching for a focused Electrical Controls Design Engineer to join their collaborative electrical design engineering team.
If you thrive in a focused, office-based environment, this is an exceptional opportunity: you’ll spend up to 90% of your time working directly at your desk, diving deep into high-impact design work (roughly 40% PLC programming and 20% electrical design). Reporting directly to the Electrical Design Engineering Manager, you will tackle exciting custom machinery projects in a steady, supportive setting.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with a Senior Engineer to learn product and processes
- Programmable logic controller programming using Allen Bradley PLC platforms
- Manage multiple engineering projects and partner with mechanical engineers to complete machine design concepts
- Responsible for control panel and electrical hardware design
- Once trained, manage 1-6 design projects at a time
- Create bill of materials for design projects
- Make customized modifications to established designs
- Assist sales and customer service department with technical electrical expertise related to customer needs and quotations
- Communicate with customers on equipment needs and preferences
- Other duties directed by management
REQUIREMENTS for the Electrical Controls Design Engineer:
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree; a Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred
- Depending on education, at least three years of experience performing similar engineering functions
- PLC programming
- Microsoft Office
Skills preferred but NOT required:
- VFD and servo control design
- Strong project management
- Allen Bradley PLCs
- OEM or machine integrator experience
- Electrical design, including panels and panel layout
