Core Responsibilities The following Core Responsibilities represent the primary duties and key priorities of the Night Auditor position. They are grouped into two categories: Job Functions and Professionalism and Style Expectations. A Physical Requirements section follows, outlining expectations applicable to all positions. Each responsibility is assigned a weight indicating the percentage of the job it represents. For performance evaluations, the Job Functions account for 90% of the overall score, while the Professionalism and Style Expectations make up the remaining 10%. Job Function Night Audit & Front Office Operations Perform nightly audit procedures to balance and reconcile daily hotel transactions, including room revenue, food and beverage charges, and other income. Accurately close the business day in the Property Management System (PMS) and generate required daily reports. Ensure all postings, adjustments, and corrections are properly documented and comply with Sheraton and hotel accounting procedures. Handle guest check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and inquiries during overnight hours in a courteous and professional manner. Respond promptly and effectively to guest requests, concerns, and emergencies during the overnight shift. Monitor hotel activity overnight to ensure guest safety, security, and compliance with hotel policies. Maintain clear communication logs for management and day-shift staff regarding overnight incidents, guest issues, or operational concerns. Ensure compliance with all labor, wage, hour, and Sheraton policies and procedures. Follow all Sheraton and hotel Standard Operating Procedures at all times. Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and security as needed to address guest needs or facility issues. Maintain confidentiality regarding guest and employee information. Assist with basic accounting tasks, including cash handling, folio reviews, and report distribution. Attend required meetings and training sessions as scheduled. Support overall hotel operations by contributing to guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. Professionalism and Style Expectations Personal Effectiveness Complete all audit, reporting, and guest service tasks accurately and with strong attention to detail. Remain calm, adaptable, and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations. Take responsibility for personal performance, learning, and professional development. Consistently present a professional appearance and demeanor, serving as a positive representative of the hotel. Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure seamless overnight-to-daytime operations. Communication Understand and communicate the Sheraton Mission and service standards. Communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with guests, coworkers, and management. Actively listen to guest concerns and respond with appropriate solutions. Accurately document and communicate overnight activity, incidents, and operational issues to appropriate parties. Treat peers, coworkers, and guests with respect at all times. Physical Requirements These are required of every associate: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to push, bend, stoop, reach overhead, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity. Ability to hear, write, and type effectively. Ability to pull a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to remain awake, alert, and focused during overnight shifts. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Additional Responsibilities Specific to This Position Must possess working knowledge of hotel front office operations and basic accounting principles. Must have a general understanding of hotel departments and how they support overnight operations. Must understand applicable federal, state, and local safety, security, and legal regulations. Must demonstrate strong mathematical accuracy and computer proficiency. High school education or equivalent is required; hospitality or accounting-related education is preferred. Ability to obtain any required licenses or certifications in a timely manner. CPR certification is preferred; first aid training is a plus. Additional language proficiency is preferred.
