We are searching for the best talent for Clinical Data Analytics & AI Intern to be in Cincinnati, Ohio, US/ remote.

  • The Intern term is from June to August, 2026.
  • Full time requirement (40 hours per week).

Purpose

We are seeking a curious, technically skilled, and analytically minded intern to help advance our next generation of clinical data review tools. This remote internship position blends programming, clinical data analytics, and AI-powered workflow innovation to enhance data quality, standardization, and efficiency across JNJ MedTech Surgery clinical trials. Your work will help ensure higher data integrity in clinical trials, ultimately supporting better patient outcomes and advancing surgical innovation at JNJ MedTech Surgery.

You will contribute directly to the evolution of the EDISONS Data Review Dashboard - our cloud-based platform supporting streamlined clinical data review. This role offers hands-on exposure to real clinical trial data, data validation methodologies, and emerging generative AI applications within data management.

This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in biomedical data, analytics, AI, and R-based product development.

You will be responsible

As an intern with the JNJ MedTech Surgery Data Management team, you will play an integral role in advancing our clinical data review tools by supporting several innovative initiatives. Your responsibilities will include developing new features within our RShiny-based EDISONS Data Review Dashboard. You'll implement standardized functions and reusable components, while also contributing to documentation efforts. Additionally, you'll work on automated data review processes, such as implementing algorithms for detecting outliers, missing data checks, flagging data issues, and building automated checks to compare datasets. You'll help enhance the dashboard with AI-powered data review tools like the Query Refiner for improved data queries, Protocol Deviation Classifier for automated review, Data Radar tools for comprehensive issue scanning, and Data Chat for interactive data exploration. Communication is key - you'll draft and execute test scripts, prepare guides and requirement documents, and work closely with data managers, clinical partners, and developers to ensure that the features are practical and effective.

Throughout this internship, you’ll gain valuable exposure to clinical data flows, MedTech trial processes, and Electronic Data Capture systems such as RAVE. You’ll develop hands-on experience applying AI and data analytics concepts to real-world data review challenges and participate in designing scalable analytics tools utilized by clinical data managers around the globe. This role will empower you to contribute to meaningful improvements that directly enhance data quality and operational efficiency, while providing opportunities to collaborate with professionals across various disciplines and build expertise in biomedical data, analytics, and R-based product development. You’ll have opportunities to learn from experienced data managers and engineers, gaining mentorship and insights that will accelerate your professional development.
