Summary

The Fabrication Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding metal components according to blueprints, work instructions, and quality standards. This position supports production operations by performing high-quality MIG welds on structural and non-structural components in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform advanced welding operations using MIG, TIG, Flux-Cored, and/or Stick welding processes.
• Interpret and apply blueprints, welding symbols, WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), and job travelers.
• Inspect welded assemblies for dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, and cosmetic quality.
• Ensure proper setup, calibration, and maintenance of welding equipment and tools.
• Troubleshoot welding issues and adjust techniques or parameters to correct defects.
• Comply with all safety policies, PPE requirements, and welding-specific safety practices.
• Collaborate with quality, engineering, and supervision to support new product introductions and process improvements.
• Maintain documentation related to production, quality checks, and rework.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives related to welding efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
• Assist with material handling, fit-up, and fabrication as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical welding training snf one year of MIG welding experience.
• Proficiency in one or more welding processes (MIG, TIG, Flux-Cored, Stick).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
• Familiarity with AWS welding standards and WPS requirements.
• Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminum.
• Skilled in the use of welding tools, fixtures, jigs, grinders, and measuring devices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to stand, walk, and work on concrete floors for extended periods.

• Frequent lifting, carrying, or positioning of materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, with or without assistance.
• Ocassional bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for precise welding and fabrication tasks.
• Ability to work in varying positions, including overhead and confined spaces.
• Tolerance for exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, noise, and bright welding arcs.
• Required use of PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear.
