ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Explore Ohio nursing jobs in a city rich with history, culture, and outdoor recreation.
• Setting: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Employment Type: Travel RN Contract
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Duration: 13-week nursing contract
• Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Unit Size: 36 beds, average daily census of 28
• Floating: Required to float between Main, South, and North campuses (all within 15 miles)
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (any state accepted; compact/temporary nursing licenses available)
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU RN experience and/or 2 years in a comprehensive stroke center at a large hospital
• At least 2 years of overall registered nurse experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• EPIC electronic charting experience required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Must complete lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam within 72 hours of contract signing
• No prior license action accepted

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with neurological diseases and disorders, including seizures and strokes
• Manage overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical and Heart & Vascular ICUs
• Float to other ICU units as needed, supporting the clinical nursing team
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures: EVD placement, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, trach and G-tube placement, central and arterial line placement
• Utilize specialized equipment: ICP monitoring, EVD, Limitor spinal drains, subdural drains, arterial lines, EEG monitors
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Administer blood products, manage ventilated patients, and provide care for multi-system organ failure
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, PT, RT, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, and more
• Maintain infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Support post-op recovery for neurosurgical and medical patients
