Overview:

Beebe Healthcare is actively hiring Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to join our Emergency Department (ED) team in Lewes, Delaware . As a vital member of the care team, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to support the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to patients in urgent and emergent settings.

Responsibilities:

• Recognizes the Patient Care Tech role as it relates to the overall function of the Emergency Department, patient care, customer service and the business of healthcare.
• Problem Solving/Performance Improvement
• Communication. Computer order entry
• Equipment Operation. Maintains clean/stocked patient care area
• Accurate/timely functions
• Prioritizes
• Demonstrates initiative Proficient in EKG
• Obtains EKGs of high quality, free of base-line drift, muscle tremor, A-C interface artifact, being well alert of poor-quality tracings and knowing when to abort unacceptable tracings
• Phlebotomy technique, competence in venipuncture, micro collection, blood cultures, Blood Bank specimens.
• Ensures positive patient identification
• Perform and report point-of-care monitor glucoses on all patient types
• Conscious of biohazard safety as it relates to the job; use of the pneumatic tube system, manual delivery of specimens to main lab, disposal of blood collection equipment, changing of gloves between patients Patient Rounds.

Qualifications:

• One year experience preferred as a Unit administrative, Nursing Assistant, or Phlebotomist.
