Early Childhood - Toddler Teacher Assistant/Aide

Summary

The Children's Center at Southwoods Childcare Center in Boardman is looking to expand our center and is now hiring childcare staff members! We are looking to hire assistants for our toddler (ages 18 months through 2.5 years) classroom who can be available to work at minimum Monday through Friday, 10am-530pm We are currently seeking fun, energetic staff members who are great with children! CPR, First Aid, Recognizing Child Abuse, and Communicable Disease certifications will be provided if not current. Starting pay based on experience and education.

Duties

The Teacher Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teacher Assistant observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teacher Assistant are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must pass BCI and FBI criminal record checks
• Experience with group care and/or education in Early Childhood Development is preferred, but training will be provided
• Certification in early childcare or a degree in childhood development preferred
• Must have flexible availability, and be available Monday through Friday from 10am through 6pm
• Physically able to perform tasks, including sitting on the floor, bending, and standing
• Must be able to lift children weighing up to 30 lbs regularly
• Must have reliable transportation
• Certification in early childcare or a degree in childhood development preferred

Nice To Haves

• Experience with group care and/or education in Early Childhood Development is preferred
• Certification in early childcare or a degree in childhood development preferred
• CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse certifications preferred but can be provided
